TRIP DETAILS:
DAY 1: Arrival in Marche Region and check-in at the 4* hotel. The accommodation is an estate in Urbino’s Countryside.
DAY 2: Breakfast is followed by the visit of the Jewel
of the Renaissance in Central Italy: Urbino.
The Ducal Palace and historical center are the proof of Urbino’s pivotal
importance in Central-Italy Renaissance! While here, you can visit a
restoration workshop where the owner has been working on conservation and
restoration of artworks and protected cultural heritage since 1984. In the
afternoon go back to your hotel. The wine experience starts with a visit of the
estate and with its 12 hectares of
vineyards with white and red wines. The wine
expert will tell you more about the organic wines they produce, like Bianchello and Verdicchio, then you will have the chance to taste them.
DAY 3: Today you will make a tour of some of Montefeltro region’s hidden treasures, with stops in San Leo, Sassocorvaro, Macerata Feltria, Carpegna and Frontino. The territory of Montefeltro is characterized by the presence of fortresses and castles, some of which are among the most interesting in Italy. The most important and imposing structure is the Rocca di San Leo, which stands out at the top of a rocky spur.
DAY 4: The tour continues to Gradara, an extraordinary representation of urban and architectural
combination (winner of “the most beautiful Italian village” of 2018!). Discover
the tragic love story of Paolo and Francesca caught in each other’s arms and
killed by Francesca’s husband. But first you will make a short stop inside the
Natural Reserve of Mount San Bartolo, a unique seaside promontory where
steep cliffs plunge into the sea, while panoramic roads wend along the
ridge, offering beautiful flora and breathtaking views. After a delicious
traditional lunch in an “osteria” the tour continues to Fano, one of the best kept towns of Adriatic Riviera from the Roman
times! A guided tour is strongly recommended here if you want to visit the
underground secrets of the city, taste and listen to the legend of how the
famous “moretta Fanese” coffee drink
was invented by the fishermen. Just 15 km away, in the countryside area, you
will visit a local winery with 207
hectares of property. An expert will guide you inside different flavors of
wine and oil production! The cellar and vineyards tour is followed by a wine
and extra virgin olive oil tasting accompanied by locally produced Pecorino
cheese. You will arrive back at the hotel in the late afternoon.
DAY 5: Recharge your energy with a hearty breakfast,
because today it’s a long but culturally enriching day: you will visit places
that are known and frequented only by locals. The first stop is at the Romanic Monastery
of Fonte Avellana, built in 980! Here you can make the tour of the
monastery and its underground secrets, visit the old pharmacy where you can
learn more about the homeopathic medicines that the monks still produce with
the herbs they grow in the monastery’s gardens, taste the typical products they
make (chocolate, honey, jams, alcoholic drinks with herbs etc.) and even buy
them. Remaining in this beautiful, green area of Catria Mountain, your
journey continues to the Castle of Frontone, an absolutely “delicious”,
charming village with breathtaking mountain and hills views. Here you will have
lunch in a traditional restaurant with typical dishes like truffles, crescia
and local meat that is instantly cooked in front of you in the wide open-plan
fireplace situated nearby the kitchen. In the afternoon you will visit Pergola, another delightful town full
of history and important archeological pieces: The "Bronzi Dorati da Cartoceto di Pergola" is the only group of gilded bronzes in the world dating from Ancient Roman
times still in existence. Before going back to the hotel, you will stop at
an artisan’s workshop. He has been
making wood crafts since childhood,
what started as a hobby, it’s now an amazing artwork that uses almost 200 types of wood! Go back to the hotel
and enjoy your last dinner in Le Marche (until next time!) at the restaurant
set on the lakes – the beautiful views and the silence of this area will make
you want to come back as soon as possible because everybody falls in love with
Le Marche!
